Abstract

The sutudies conducted at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar revealed that the critical period of weed crop competition with an average population range of about 300 wild pea plantss/m2 was found to be between 20–40 days after sowing. The competition of wheat variety WH-283 against wild pea in a population range of 25 to 200 plants/m2 was favoured by increasing the doses of nitrogen upto 120kg/ha. The dry weight of wild pea at all populations decreased with an increase in nitrogen rates, whereas the grain yield of wheat increased with increased dose of nitrogen rates. The magnitude of reduction in dry weight of wild pea due to nitrogen was more at higher populations than at lower populations.
