Abstract

The study of weed flora in wheel, gram and mustard crops grown in different crop sequences and farming situations in districts of Jind and Hisar was conducted during 1992–93. Wheat crop grown after paddy had significantly more population of Phalaris minor Retz. as compared to wheat raised after cotton crop with assured supply of tubewell water. Higher population of Anagallis arvensis L. was recorded in cotton-wheat rotation than observed in paddy-wheat cropping sequence. Interestingly significantly higher (83 plants/m2) of Chenopodium album L. were found in wheat grown after cotton as compared to wheat raised after paddy with assured supply of canal and tubewell water. However, other weed flora consisted of Avena ludovieiana, Polypogon monpeliensis, Asphodelus tenuifolius, Trigonella polyeerata, Fumaria parviflora, Lathyrus aphaca, Vieia sativa, Cireium arvense, Melilotus indica and Euphorbia draeuneuloides. Weed flora was more diverse in different farming situations, crop sequences and sources of irrigation.
