Abstract

The experiments were conducted at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore during dry(summer) and wet (kharif) seasons of 1992. Weed-free upto 50, 60, 70 and 80 DAS and weedy upto 20, 30 and 40 DAS gave higher grain and straw yield and lower dry weight of weeds during both the seasons. Nutrients removal by weeds was lower in weed-free upto 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 DAS and weedy upto 20, 30 and 40 DAS. In direct seeded puddled rice the first 20 to 50 DAS was more critical period for crop-weed competition for nutrients.
